bluetooth will not recognize a 911 phone call

had to call 911 while driving down the freeway cause there was a fire ont he side of the highway starting up. well, i start the blue tooth, and after several tries, it does not recognize voice dialing 911. so i had to dial it myself (oh the horror lol) but damn thats an inconvenience.

just babbling. thx for reading.

In order for it to recognize it you first have to program the car for that number just like you do for any other number. Remember everybody's voice algorithms is different so factory programing it to recognize everyone's voice is extremely hard if not impossible.

Personally instead I would have hit the Onstar button.

Hmm try programming your phone with 911 under EMERGENCY. Then just say "call emergency".

Do not test it though. The 911 system frowns on test calls.

You'd have to wait till the next time it may be needed.... such as a paint chip on your camaro or something.

If you still have Onstar service, that's the way I'd go. They'd be able to read your precise position when you called, which the 911 system wouldn't be able to do.

The red OnStar button is for that exact purpose. Using GPS, they can locate you, which is a good approximation for the location of the emergency.
