LS vs LT

heres my dilemma, im a 17 year old looking to buy a camaro within a year or two. i was aiming for the 2lt with RS but now im also thinkin about the LS since its cheaper and i can get it sooner. i do have a few problems with the LS though, first off is it cant have RS package on it meaning its limiter will be set at 115 instead of 155. also i remember when i was first researching the camaro i noticed the LS doesnt have the aux input or the USB. could this be put in? the bose sound system is more of a nicety that i could do without. any input appreciated

Well lets see. 115mph is faster then you can leagally go on any street any way. If its an issue, a programmer can adjust that. Are you sure it doesn't have the AUX input? At first I thought mine didn,t have it until I relized its located inside the consol and not on the head unit like most cars. As far as the RS package, I intentionally got a car without it because I like to custom a car to my style and most of the options that come with the RS package are things that I would change anyway.

The lower govenor may add up to a lower insureance premium depending on how indepth your insurance company gets into the details of the car, and at your age, every discount you can get on the insurance is going to be a good thing.

Those are just some random thoughts. The best thing you can do is research it yourself. Look at both cars, decide what your plans are for the car, and call your insurance company for some quotes and decide what is best for yourself. Everyone is different and has different needs and desires. My one restriction on getting mine was that I would sacrifice any option to get it in my price range except the engine. It was V-8 or no Camaro. My famaily is a vertual 400HP club. My mother drives a modified 2004 Z06 and my father drives a modified Trailblazer SS. I was tired of going to visit them with a puny little 310hp Subaru. LOL.

All Camaro models have the AUX port. As for the USB, I am pretty sure that the dealer can install that. It's called the PDIM.

I didn't know that. The usb is part of C&C, right? The LS can't get c&c.

I think I'm gunna try to get the 1LT with c&c + BA system. As for 115 mph? I might hit that once in my life. 155mph? Probably never!

Yes USB is part of the C&C package, I don't know if a dealer can install it separately, I'm guessing they can but it probably will be expensive.

"back in the day" with my '70 Olds 442 it was an extremely rare occaision to break 100 MPH, so I think 115 would be just fine . . .

to the OP, you might want to think about a cheap/basic car in the mean time to gain experience and a good driving record, not sure if that will make a difference to your insurance rates

An auxillary output is standard on all models.

http://www.chevrolet.com/camaro/features-specs/ (look under the interior tab).

An aux jack is all I need. Stick my iPhone/iPod in there and the rest is history.

i thought the engine size was the determining factor for the governer? 155 for the SS and 125 for the lt and ls models?

non RS is 115 (except for the SS models) It's to do with the tire speed ratings. I'm 42 with non RS 1LT and C&C and that works for me.

To the OP, The aftermarket world is working their tails off with cosmetic/mechanical mods that you can purchase. The LS is an awesome Camaro just without the bells and whistles.

Bottom line, if Camaro is the car for you, get what you can afford! Patience is a virtue.

if you wanna get the car sooner, i'd say get the LS and customize it the way you want(you'll like it better) because you can have halo's, fog's, and HID's added to your car...the 4-pack gauges can now be ordered so you can have that added...the probably most expensive thing is gonna be getting different rims and tires...if you dont wanna do all that, then get the 1LT/RS

Save your money and get the one you really want. Because once you have it, it's hard to get out of it to get the one you really wanted in the first place.

that's the only reason im thinking of getting the LS, that way i can make it the way that i want, so i don't have to second guess anything

Just remember one thing. Most of the time it's cheaper to buy the car with the option already installed from the factory then buying it and adding it later. You have to live with it and you know what makes you happy. I would buy the ls in a heartbeat If I could get it with the ls3 V8. But, I'm old school.

true, but buying it factory doesn't really do it for me...i want my car to be different(different color halo's etc) so it would be pointless for me to buy a more expensive car and add a $1000 package just to change it...if he wants the stock colors etc, then it would be better for him to get the 1LT/RS
