Hey guys, this is my first time on the forums! I got my V6 Camaro as a graduation gift a few months ago and I just put flowmasters on it... I read this forum which helped me make a choice on which exhaust to get.... unfortunately once I got to the shop, my mind was changed once I heard what it sounded like with the exhaust cut off... BEAST.... so just to tone that down a little bit, I put one chambers on it and WOW. It has some amazing sound. It is very loud during first - third gears but once up to speed it is a low rumble. At idle, sounds like the SS. I'll hopefully have a chance to post a video this coming week while im on spring break!

Okay, so I got the American Thunder axel back kit installed on Saturday morning. So far I love it. The sound at startup is tremendous, and it has a nice roar on the roads. The tips also look amazing and add so much tot he appearance of the car.

I didn't have the resonated X-Pipe installed because my guy didn't have the ability to do any of the more advanced work and suggested I take to to an exhaust shop. That was okay with me though because this should give me a week or so just to try out the kit on its own.

There is definitely drone around 1800-2000 RPM when you gas it. Time will tell how acceptable this is. I'm about 50/50 now on doing the resonated X-Pipe and won't return it incase I decide I want to add that to my system.

Got the work done by 402 Motoring in New Jersey.

Some attached pictures.

Initially I was thinking of putting an x-pipe on mine but now that I've had my FAT axle back system for a little over a week I'm perfectly happy with it as-is. The drone has really decreased at the 2k RPM range after a week of aging. Just sounds really great IMO. Agreed about the tips too. Best I've seen so far.

I had a guy tell me if we install a tune in our cars computer, it will leave a "permanent" memory write that can't be removed or changed? I'm thinking about a e-mail tune from Trifecta next. Anybody?
1) On your resonated X, how did you install it? Did you use it to replace the H-pipe and leave the stock resonators in place, or replace both, etc?

2) Some computers do leave a record of the number of reflashes they had. I'm not sure if the ECU in the LLT is that way.

Yeah, I was out driving at lunch time and wow, it sounds so good.

After the car warms up, it seems to sound really good. I think I’ll give this exhaust about 1,000 miles to break and then decide what I want to do. Right now I’m leaning on keeping it as-is.

Replaced the H with it and left the stock resonators in place.

Brad,
You say you get the drone on acceleration? Try getting on a long stretch of freeway and set the cruise at 70 and see how it sounds. Thats the problem I had with drone. Just cruising along at 1900-2000 RPM.

The only problem I had with drone was if I accelerated in 6th with the revs too low, so I don't do that anymore. I use manual mode so I tried driving in Sport mode and found that the car wouldn't up shift into 6th at that speed anyway. I generally only go up to 6th if I have a clear road ahead and can just cruise along.

You might want to keep a check to make sure the clamps are nice n' tight as well.

Cheers!

I can see where you might be coming from.

I take about four 750 mile round trips from Jersey to Pittsburgh every year so this could concern me.

So far though I love ho wit sounds. I had my music up around 18-20 this morning with the windows cracked about 4" and couldn't hear any drone in that range (going about 60).

Like I said, I will hold onto the resonated X-Pipe just to have it incase I decide I want to use it.

I want to give this system about 1,000 miles to break in first.

I haven't experienced the drone that some have spoke of. I've had mine at varying speeds and it sounds good at all RPM's. Never too loud for my taste and I have a CAI as well. I enjoy my music and the sound of the car when I cruise. Now I had a buddy of mine say over the weekend that it sounded like a V8. I don't know about that but it most definitely sounds better than it did when I bought it. My car only has but 500 miles on it and I'm sure as I break it in, the sound will change some but for know, I'm sold on this exhaust, especially for the money.

I've only seen the one vid on Youtube for the Flowmaster that has the install and subsequent runs with it, and that's what sold me on it, and though I have some video equipment, I'm not sure if I could upload it after I shot it.
