CAM is at machine shop getting old pin removed and new one installed hope to have it back today. If that's the case I hope to have everything back together tonight.

I was wondering if what I'd said to you on 4/26/21 helped you find the issue...
Although I do remember that putting the VVT camshaft sprocket back on was tough because you have to line up that one notch that basically spins the camshaft. It was difficult to see behind the VVT stuff.

Did you have much of a problem lining up the notch from the camshaft to the timing sprocket? If so, maybe you could reassemble it?

Not good....
A local reputatable machine shop turned what should have been a simple fix into a nightmare(photo). My buddy pulled some strings for me and got me in touch with a local race car builder, we're talking 5-6 sec 1/4 mile cars. Apparently he is one of the best machinist in a couple hundred miles of me. He said if he can't get it out he might be able to fill it in and Re drill using the stock cam as an index. He has it now hopefully he can do something with it. If not I'm going to go with vvt delete. Less room for mistakes, though I don't know what else I could possibly screw up at this point.

I'll get her running maybe not before the track season comes to an end but I'll get her running.

OMG brother!!! Man I feel for you. Nothing like having a dream/goal set for yourself and for some reason the boulders keep falling in front of you to stop the progress. That sucks. Hang in there, you will get her going sooner than later and it will all be worth it. Getting some real experience though. Good luck..

Yeah you'll get it. It make take some hard work but it'll be worth it in the end. I just replaced my oil pump for the third time and finally got it right. Boy did I learn the hard way. But it was worth it and a great learning experience so I don't regret it at all. Don't worry it will all come together.

You are welcome my friend!! I would have already tossed that sucker out and got a different one. I don't have that kind of patience and calm anymore for stuff like that. Good luck.

I'll be putting my engine on a stand when I do my cam install. Idk how some you guys have the patience to do it in vehicle, and struggle with things like the oil pickup tube or getting the oil pan off. I know it "can" be done, as many of you have done it, but man..... what a pain in the butt it can be doing all of this in vehicle.

Easy, don't replace the oil pump lol. I did a cam was probably the easiest cam job I've done in a pushrod engine. I didn't replace the oil pump.

Yeah I wont be doing that lol I will be degreeing the cam, measuring PTV clearance, flycutting the pistons etc.... More of build than anything else. Not your average cam swap.
