L92 cam suggestions
Hey guys, looking for a little insight If I decide to keep my current setup( L92 with Howard's Asa cam, BTR hardened pushrods, GMPP dual plane intake stock bottom end) I was wondering if I am leaving alot of power on the table not going with something higher lift, anybody have any suggestions cam wise for a street driven motor, or I am i waiting my time with a cam swap an just stay with the Asa.. thanks everyone!

The ASA is about as aggressive as you can use with stock springs. From there you would need to go with a "stage 3/4" and retune to see any real gains like 30 or 40 hp.

Thank you for the input, I have PAC springs on there now an would definitely upgrade to something like a BTR spring, so you think there would be a 30-40 hp difference with different cam? That's exactly what I am wondering if I left quite a bit of power behind with the Howard's Asa...

You will have to go pretty aggressive to get the 30-40. I'm assuming you already have headers and are pushing about 420whp. I would check out some of the NA build threads, maybe poke around on LS1Tech.

Yes I do have headers an I don't mind getting aggressive, I will definitely chk out some of the build threads, if I could gain that kind of power that would be great

Would you think there would be a 30-40hp difference from another cam?

Not sure what you are asking. From what I've researched, you can gain up to around 75hp from a cam change on an NA motor from the stock LS3 cam. I base my guesses on the fact that the ASA increases hp by 20-30, so you have 30-40ish left depending on how aggressive you go. There are lots of different aggressive cams out there and everyone has their favorite. I actually used a cam I had on my vert since it was middle of the road with .600 lift and 230 duration 115 LSA. The turbo car has a pretty aggressive turbo cam, but the LSA is so wide it does not hurt idle that much. If you go over .660 lift, you really need heads to support that, or at least get the most out of it.

I have the asa in my ls3 & I have been wandering the same thing. Runs decent sounds great but I too am wondering how much I left on the table.
I have a TSP stage one cam in the closet along with the supporting stuff. Specs are almost identical to the asa (mine is on a 113 lsa) except the lift of the TSP is considerably more. I do not want to go too rowdy with my cam so the larger ones over 230* are not what I want. I am also looking at the GPI SS2, about the most i would be willing to go. Might just try the TSP first since I already have it.
