i dont think the 5.0 will be better than the camaro, but that is just me, it will be heavier, and that will hurt the stangs handling, and from what i have read and heard earlier, they are going to have to beef the mustangs body up for 2012 safty mandates, again adding weight.

although i still say that the camaro need a suspension pack.

Sorry man, but for that price I would buy a used C6Z with a real 427. I saw one at Car Max for alttle over $40K with low miles a few months ago. Thats the second one I seen for around $40K price range.

HA. Thats ok. I am leaning heavy on the camaro, this just looked like a good price and I don't know much about them. Was hoping to see what everybody thought of them. I know there are bunch of ford guys trolling around here, they all have great ideas and insight too...

My friend has a 08 ROUSH 427R AUTO and bone stock runs 12.7's all day long.

with a more aggressive tune he should hit 12.2-12.3's

Evidently you didn't do any research on the car, that is far from amazing, that's what the average driver can do with it.

professional driver EVAN SMITH took one to the track for a magazine MUSCLE MUSTANGS and FAST FORDS and with drag radials was running 12.2's with an AUTO.

Not saying better, just quicker and said could be. I seriously doubt the new drivetrain will add much more than 100 pounds to the car. It's not like it's being switched for a big block backed by a c6 or something. That log axel is also always going to give the Mustang an advantage on the drag strip and allow it to cut better 60 ft times.

In the latest issue, MM&FF tested a '10 GT500 and went 11.95 @ 120.29 mph bonestock. They then added some M/T street tires and went 11.50s.

It's almost embarassing to see people in such denial over things like this.

Would love to hear some examples... A 320hp Mach 1 can run door to door with an LS1 car (which we know makes over 350hp)... that's with a ~30rwhp difference in Chevys favor. My favorite has to be the 2V PI 260HP 99~04 Mustang that runs door to door with the 5.7L LT1 which we know makes ~300hp.

It's funny I actually can't think of ANY examples of this being true short of the newer Cobras (03+) vs a 4th gen. Foxbody cars EMBARASS F-bodys with much less power... Gee Uncle Henry it's just not working out like you said. (little MM&FF humor there )
