Mine failed at about 17,600 mi. The car was a daily driver, but I did drive it pretty hard, did have most bolt-ons but no cams or FI. Changed the oil every 4,000 mi with mobile 1 synthetic. Although as soon as it was fixed I just decided to trade in for an SS because I wasn't looking forward to the possibility of it happening again.

From a review of this thread it seems like a quality and tolerance issue with the timing chain. Basically hit or miss ? From the responses I can see why people are nervous and why GM hasn't been forced to do a recall.
I guess I'll continue to be vigilant with the oil changes and keep my fingers crossed.

Supposedly the problem comes from those who don't drive hard or don't drive much at all causing condensation in the crankcase. I guess that blows that theory. Probably just a bad design.

94k miles and I might or might not have a stretched chain. I get a P0008 error and lousy performance when I use high octane but everything's peachy when I go back down to 87. This is my daily driver and my commute is ~120 miles total, mostly highway.
