His catch can was full of oil he never checked it since I had installed it I wanna say atleast 3-4 months causing it to choke the engine, and he races a lot!! And this is a cheap $30 catch can,it's doing it job alright Emptied it out and told em to check and empty it every oil change ! Just thought Id share Lol |

WOW!!! Did the catch can over fill??
Question: God forbid this ever happen to anyone else, what are the side effects, if any at all, if the catch can is allowed to over fill? Can any component like a seal weaken? I'm trying to visualize, but my knowledge of the LS3 internals is not rich enough with knowledge yet. Last edited by Camaro Dude; 08-11-2014 at 10:40 PM. |

He "races a lot", and/or his valley cover is defective.
Both will do it per that quantity. I was collecting that much oil as well, while constantly "on it", but in conjunction with my clean side oil separator, I can tell you that the inside of my TB and intake manifold was and still is, dry and SPOTLESS! IMHO here, the fact he forgot to empty it, is a lot more disconcerting than the actual amount of oil collected. The can did its job. |

That is some nasty colored oil. I don't think he has done regular maintenance on his lubrication system, either.

The bad side of the PVC system will always look dark unless you are in the cold then it gets milky looking. Mine even with a new oil change will be dark. It will also have a smell of fuel. But even going 5K miles my Elite can is never over a 1/4 full.

It u don't have a catch can within time your intake will become full of oil and condensation
Also it gunks up on the intake side of the heads It won't blow out seals |

My question was, what are the ill effects to any part of the engine, if the catch can is allowed to fill to the brim, for a prolonged period of time? I didn't ask what happens to an engine without one installed. |

Well his started choking at wide open throttle about 2 wks ago
So it had to be full about a week...I removed throttlebody and everything was dry inside intake etc it's just going to cause a choke effect like his was. |
