Or you at least need to be able to reach the antenna wire from under the dash.

Doesn't sound too hard, I assume it draws power from the 12v lighter socket?

Yes. You could direct wire it to a 12v source also.

anyway.xm and sirius have gotten the go ahead from the DOJ and the FCC

i spoke with an XM rep about 2 months ago and they said it would be about a year after approval when you could get ala carte programming from both.they could give me an answer on OEM auto equipment but stated you may have to get new portable equipment so who knows

The sound quality won't be any better than FM that way because the tuner is still having to modulate with the old school freq's.

JVC has a new head unit with integrated HD radio, cd, and an AUX plug on front. KD-HDR 30.

Um, actually, the unit I bought doesn't use FM modulation to get the signal to the head unit. The antenna pass through is there so that the HD receiver can get the HD signal from the stock antenna without requiring you to install a second antenna. The actual HD radio audio signal output is done through L/R RCA jacks on the receiver which you then feed into your stock head unit via RCA in jacks or via a 1/8" AUX jack.

The problem with the aftermarket head units with integrated HD radio is that they aren't going to fit the dash design of the new Camaro. The add-on unit I bought allows me to keep the stock radio and add HD Radio to it.

Why not take advantage of the bluetooth or USB for input? You could use a endles variety of source that way and not loose any signal in the process. Looks like you will need to get 2LT or 2SS though.

I can't get enough of sirius. I don't know what i'd do without it. And I can only play my mp3 player for so long untill I get tired of it. Even with 20gbs.

Definitely opt for HD

If they don't have an option, I suggest you get one custom installed. You're gonna love the sound quality. Here is a pretty good resource to start at:
