Top down time?

My top seems like it takes forever to go up/down. Are there actual released times from GM stating the time it should take? Ive googled/forum searched and found nothing. Has anyone had a top motor go bad?
How long does it take yours?

To my understanding, it's 29 seconds. This was advertised somewhere in the marketing before the verts came out.

Various Chevy publications list 18-20 seconds. I may have counted 15 seconds on mine but most likely it's 20 seconds.

See page 3 under the heading "Open Air Excitement" of the attached "Sales Reference Guide" for the 2011 Camaro Convertible (lots of other interesting and useful information contained in this, as well).

Twenty seconds under normal conditions.

About ten minutes when I got caught in a sudden rain shower...

Very cool document! Here's something I didn't know but always wondered about.

"If the radio is on, the sound may be muted for a brief time due to a new audio system equalization being loaded."

And BTW, my top takes 17-18 seconds.

I seem to remember 17 down 25 up from Motor Trend. It's definitely a slow moving top. But who cares when it looks so good

I haven't timed it but my '12 2LT top is definitely slower than a '13'ZL1 I test drove. The '13 was noticeably faster up and down. Maybe it's the new top motor or they made it faster.

Not sure of the time it takes, but I know that the Camaro is slower than the Toyota convertible. One day at a winery it started to rain and a guy at a table by ours and I ran out to our cars (his being the Toyota) and we started to put the tops up at the same time and his was up faster than mine by about 5 seconds. This was with my 11 not sure how much faster the 13 is, if it is faster.

Love this question....mine takes about 24 seconds. And our Mustang top is quicker by about 4 seconds. That being said I HATE the Stang top for 2 reasons:
1- it's vinyl not fabric
2- Not driver friendly at all. I put the top down so easily in Camaro with the 1 center latch in middle. Mustang has 2 latches...on driver and passenger side. I can't put the top down without unlatching passenger side first or getting out and walking around to that side of car to unlatch.
