To the OP this isn't necessarily directed at you only so please don't take this wrong but that is why I'm divorced now and can buy what I want. The timing of the questions, the begging, the pleading, and compromising to buy what I wanted was too much. Glad you came to a decision on what to buy. If you and your wife are really close and share everything you both buy then by all means teach her to drive the manual?

My wife drives mine on a semi regular basis. She goes so slow, I don't even worry about. Haha.

I still haven't herd from the dealer, and I am away for work till Friday. Hoping I hear something tomm. Just praying it all works out. Thank you all for the input. I always said my car would be a manual. Either way I think I would be happy. If she wanted to learn to drive it I would let her as she is my wife, that being said she loves to go for drives in the country. Just need to find a 13 and quick

Everyone keeps saying get a manual so your wife can't drive or my wife can't drive a manual. Man that must suck. My wife can ratchet through the gears on our manual better than most men can. She told me I had to buy a manual if I bought one.....

my perspective was all based on $$$$.
it was like $2600 extra for the auto and I like manuals too. so in my case it was a no brainer. Now the wife is the x-factor for you. obviouly if she can't drive manual you may need to spend the coin.

An auto for a disabled person is a God-send. I could not have bought one if it wasn't for that. I guess you considered disabled people a waste!

Automatics also enjoy a higher resale value. Ask any car dealer. When some 70 year old enthusiast wants to buy mine in 30 years (if I ever sell it) he may just be happy that it is an automatic and will pay a premium over a similar manual.
Unfortunately, the manual transmission is becoming a technology of the past. Even the most high end and purist of pure sports cars don't offer them. Years ago, they used to save more in fuel economy. Now, it's about even. I love the idea that both transmissions are offered. All of us paid a glass guzzler tax of some sort and I was willing to pay even more to drive this car without worry of a clutch that would after a while sour my ownership experience, forcing me to get rid of the car sooner than expected. |
