I believe the higher hp numbers are due to the fact that 14-15 1LE's have electronic steering, 1 pulley less to rob hp.

My 1LE is a 2013 and also has electric power steering. I noticed it does seem like its has more pull than the non-1LE 2SS I test drove. Given GM's history of understating HP for insurance purposes it wouldn't surprise me if there was something extra in the LS3 in the 1LE; just not sure how to check if something like performance heads and/or cam was added from the factory.

Gears. But yes it looks like the 1LE is has between 10-20 whp more power.

Is it just me or does any one find it odd or comical that GM's own performance part voids the warranty?

If I am paying a premium for a GM part I would only do it if GM did not void the warranty!

Kind of crazy to me!

Yes very comical. I see their performance line like I see all that crap a dealership that they try to sell you. Or like the stuff at auto zone. Ford is better with Ford racing and Roush, but I still would go with aftermarket. I guess SLP did work with chevy to extend warranty if you get their basic supercharger kit. I think you can also get a warranty on chevy performance parts if the right place installs it. I think I have heard of packages that are warrantied, but it still a rip off.

I guess some of the stuff is for people that pay sticker price.

Chevrolet Performance makes outstanding parts. The only real complaint I have is that they are not priced in line with aftermarket parts. GM has a tendency to hold the line when it comes to price and the "value" argument—basically, their stuff is better or comes with more features, like its own warranty, quality design, or other features—and that has resulted in a sort of cockiness in aftermarket parts pricing over the years. Because they claim to have better value, they justify pricing among premium parts manufacturers even though the gains may be much more humble. It directly has hindered their image and sales. If they can justify taking in less money in profit, they'll get more sales, thus building up their performance brand. The added visibility will pay dividends in the long haul, especially with a new generation just over the horizon.

Of course, who listens to me about this? I'm only a performance enthusiast with some common sense.

^^^^^ The lower gears definitely give a stronger pull in 1-3. Now if only they would update the traction control to work better with that low 1st gear...

I viewed the youtube video for the LS3/480 and LS3/525 and from what the Chevy guy says you can wring up to 480 or 525 HP from a stock LS3 with a cam change with a related tune. Thats the kind of thing I keep wondering if GM did at the factory already for the 1LE and just doesn't say 'cause they don't want to re-certify the LS3 in the 1LE package. Guess without opening up the engine in my 1LE there is no way to know for sure.

The 1le has the same LS3 found in the SS. Its the 3.91gearing and 285/35 sticky tires that makes it faster

If GM changed anything like that in the LS3 and didn't re-certify (especially for emissions) the gestapo EPA would be all up in their ****. Doubt they would take that chance.

I notice they mentioned a Torzen diffential, I think that is worth looking into. I recall reading somewhere that our differtial has clutches and Torzen is all gears. I installed a Torzen differentail on my old 2002 Camaro and it made a world of difference, from open differential to Limited slip. So I wonder how that would perform on our cars??
