I just had my oil pan gasket replaced last week, I had a small leak for about two years (since my cam install). I waited because I knew it was a PITA job, we dropped the front sub frame to replace it. Really a ridiculous design... Best of luck PQ!!!

How far sir? I was looking tonight while I was changing out my exhaust... It doesn't look like it needs to move much before you can get it out.

I made the brace under the pan removable. Cut it out, welded tabs on it, and drilled the necessary holes. I still have to raise the engine just a bit to get it out because the pan has to go over the power steering rack to come out but it can be done very quickly now. I was a little worried about losing some structural rigidity but there is another crossmember about a foot ahead of it where the power steering rack is.

If you are just replacing the oil pump, read robertway's how to on the ls3 cam swap. He spells it out with pictures even!!!

Just use a transverse engine support up top remove the subframe bolts and let it hang. That's how we do bmws
