New Era Intake Pipe Installed (pics)
Ok, ladies and gentlemen, its officially hot in Texas. But I digress.
I installed the New Era intake pipe yesterday. It took about an hour. Don't expect it to fit right up. The daughter and I couldn't get it to fit right out of the box. She wanted me to mention her to improve her street cred. Finally, we loosened the clamps on the pipe and then the boots slipped on the throttle body and the air box. Everything is tightened up but you can see that the alignment is'nt quite right. Anyway, I didn't know whether to post here or in the Cosmetics section. It looks really good...I know aluminum heat soaks worse than plastic. I ran around for awhile (see above), then opened the hood and felt the pipe. It was hot, but the air box was almost as hot. I went with the New Era pipe because I think the stock air box is pretty good and any improvement would be between the air box and the throttle body. And I looks good. And BTW, its only $90. So, here are the pics. Buck is taking a nap now, I pulled his #5 and #20 fuses. |

Thanks for the write up and good words! Any intentions on getting it dynoed? we like to get as much feedback as possible, also if you feel the fit isn't correct, try turning the silicone a bit, they are angle cut pieces and will fit better if moved.

Ordered mine tonight! I've been looking at CAI's and can't decide, but I do know I hate the stock tube! For the money this is a nice step and may just be as much as I do. Looks good!

Just becuase one test was done on the stock box and a filter doesnt mean it's bad
I have cut the ribs out of my stock upper lid and smoothed it in a few area's.. I sealed off the intake tube better on the lower scoop, then added the black wing kit to the setup.. I really like the IAT's I'm seeing from the stock setup and tube.. Is it the best cai, nope but it doesn help. Airaid CAI design is pretty good... I figure adding alittle better foam around the top of the box should seal it shut when the hoods closed.. Gonna do one on a buddies car with the better foam around the top of the box Will have pics soon. I really want the JBA Cat pipes and a PT2800 so I just might keep my blackwing kit and live with it Decisions, decisions
