I say we all get on the phone wit GM Customer SErvice and let them know in a big way about this defect! I received a letter giving me extended Warranty coverage for "Suspension" isswues. Not a fix, but at leaset it is something...

I went through the same thing, first they told me the tires need rotated....didnt help, then they said the tires were out of balance....no help (bought new tires)...no help, then got so it would make a loud grinding noise when I turned the wheel, at that point I threw such a fit they came and got it on a roll back....said they coulndnt find anything wrong. At that point took to another dealer who without even looking at the car, proclaimed that it was brake rotors, got into a cussing match with him, until the service manager came out and I showed him that you could move the front wheel by grabbing it and giving it a good yank......So they finally put it up on a rack, and were nice enough to tell me that they had no idea how Id even made the 30 mile trip to get there. My car was parked and deemed by the mechanic as unsafe to drive. So there it sat waiting on ball joints, bushings and all 4 control arms for almost 5 weeks due to a shortage of parts.......go figure......may not be the same issue on the camaro but seeing as they are on the same platform I suspect that this is the issue on them as well

Maybe someone can take this "problem" to CF5 and ask Scott about it.

Bumping this thread as I am getting the same noise and feel outta my front right strut.More noticably after lowering or with a passenger. When i removed the front strut i dod notice road debris/ almost sand in what looks to be the bearing back part # 12 i believe. Im gonna replace that soon and see if it helps, as my car is lowered i dont want to deal with the dealership just yet.

Looks like you order part#10 Strut mount Back and it comes with both.
Gonna emial b4 i buy to confirm but its a $18 part so not bad.

anyone else have any updates?

I had the same problem. It turned out to be the sway bar mounting bolts were not tightened down. They had loctite on them too. Dealer re-torqued all the front end bolts and attaching points, All was fine after that.

I took mine in again today more for tire balance/out of round problem(not the cold weather flat spotting) they road test balanced the tires said need more weights, and I mentioned the popping in the front end, they said they couldn't duplicate the noise but found a loose/defective tie-rod end and have ordered me a new one should be in tomarrow. This is a new dealer than the one I purchased my car from, I will post after I get it back all fixed and see if that made any change.

me to

i got some grief months ago when i traded mine for a silverado. but the car didnt steer that good and made the noises to where every time i got out of it i was dissapointed. it was at the dealer being checked out once more and they had the rebates on the truckes and i thought better now than a year from now when the value is down. 1800 miles i lost 500 on it. its ashame i waited so long to be dissapointed. theres a saying about being a first year buyer. its ashame after puting a rear sway bar on the rear it was a good ride in the twisties but going down the road strait i was always correcting. i have owned trans am, vette monte carlo ss and you could go down the road with out much correction or noises.

Just got back from the dealer and guess what the noise is gone!!! they replaced the strut mounts and said that there was debris in both the front struts...but i dont get how that got there since ive never driven the car anywhere except on a paved road...well i guess it doesnt matter anymore since that took care of the problem...

I had mine in yesterday for this same issue. They found sand in the bearing and replaced it. I still have the noise. Can you provide an exact list of parts and description from your receipt so i can make my dealer do the same repair?

Thanks!

If this sound is being caused by debris. The debris is not coming from the highway. I ordered my car and it made this noise on the drive home from the dealer. GM needs to address this problem and find a fix for it.
