Mike,

AC/DC is one of my alltime favorite bands. I remember seeing them live on the The Razors Edge tour in the fall of 1990 to promote the album and Thunderstruck. I am so sorry for your loss, I cannot imagine. I always knew this new Camaro was a special car, but I didn't realize just how special it was to people like your son. I'm glad you decided to keep the car, I know your son Dawson would have wanted that.

My thoughts and prayers go out to your family, and I know this hole in your heart will never fully heal, but as time passes the tears of pain will become tears of joy as you remember your son, and enjoy driving down the road in "his" car listening to Thunderstruck. My wife and I are going out to breakfast in the morning and we will be taking our Camaro to the restaurant. I will be sure to listen to Thunderstruck on the way in your sons honor. May god be with you and your family in this time of healing.

Money and fame never last. I've always said that the most you can hope for in life is to make a positive impact in someones life. I have three boys and can not imagin ever loosing a single one. My heart goes out to Dawson's family and I know he must still smile everytime you take him for a ride.

Thanks Scott for sharing this letter.

As a father of 3 with my youngest child being 10 years old, a massive fan of bumblebee and who loves sitting in the back while I play AC-DC - I wept when I read this,
Life is so fleeting and you never know which precious memories will be the last you have with a loved one.
I just hugged my kids and prayed for you and for Dawson (and I am not someone who routinely says/does that)
Sharing experiences like this helps us all in some ways and keeps and extends memories

My condolences. It was a very touching story. As a father of a little girl who loves my car, it's amazing just how kids can see things, and how that can affect us parents. I'm sure the loss is tremendous, and my heart goes out to you.

I was doing fine until I got to the part about taking taking him for that first ride after waking the car up, but I couldn't keep it together after that. As bad as this story made me feel I can't even imagine living it (and hope to God I never have to know what it feels like).

I know words are useless in a situation like this but I am truly sorry for your loss. In honor/remembrance of your little angel any daylight driving I do tomorrow will be done with my halos on in place of the DRLs. Who knows, maybe they will shine bright enough to make it up to heaven and help broaden his smile a bit more.
