12.843 and i got beat by a stock 5.0

ok so i have the below mods in the sig and i raced a stock 2013 mustang 5.0, he beat me, i want to know what my issue was. i had a quicker 60 ft, 330ft and 1/8th, then he had a quicker 1000ft and 1/4 mile. why is this, shouldnt i pull in the top end bc of my mods? this makes me wonder should i have the engine cleaned out and add a catch can or is it something else? it was tuned by jannetty. any help would be appriciated Im number 17 on the left.

Well he did leave the line before you did and he was already a 1/2mph faster than you in the 1/8th so you wasn't going to catch him. My GXP had about the same mods and I ran 12.80 so are about right. The new 5.0s are no joke. They make great power and are 400+lbs lighter.

Nothing at all surprising about his e/t or mph. A properly driven and launched 5.0 should be capable of 12:70s-12:80s. I don't think you did anything wrong it's just the 5.0 is a more efficient 1/4 mile car than the SS in most races. When I had my SS I had similar mods to yours (LS3) I got tired of being beaten by stock 5.0s as well. I upped my game and went for a cam, LT, DRs setup. The problem I had then was that lightly modded (tuned & DRs) 5.0s were still beating me.

What tires were you running, did you try to adjust launch rpm, it seems with a 3500 stall you should have a better 60'

How was your launch? I still feel you could have done better (not knowing track conditions). Stall, gears, tune, intake, headers on ur car can get a quicker time than that.

I pulled a 12.91 (109 trap speed 1.96 60ft) with just headers, intake, and tune, in humid, wet, and very hot track conditions, and not a perfect launch too. Stock tires, L99.

You adding gears and a stall, and cooler temps this time of the year, should give you more than a .06th of a second.

Your car is capable of better times, based on what I did with mine alone.

I would think my trap speed being the same or higher than yours, means you should have been pulling more top end, might be something in your tune, or like you said, somethings dirty.

These new 5.0s are no slouch and if not running at perfect conditions they will take you more often than not

21' inch wheel option street tires 285's in the back 255's in the front launching at 1900 any harder gets wheel spin. The track was well preped for a private event do it was sticky I had glue on my tires in the pits

Sounds like traction isnt a problem, especially since you were able to launch at 1900 with street tires with that stall.

21's are bad news, and will hurt your 60'. I still think you could have done better, but 20's vs 21's in this race could have let you edge him out and get the win.

Something isint right, my L99 full boltons, vararam, kooks 1 7/8's, 3" catless Flowmaster cat back and stock converter made 12.7's on stock pirellis. I'd say yea ditch the 21's as well.

It doesn't effect ET's but he did leave on him, therefore, he would have beat him.
