Recall

Anyone else seen any info on GM recalling all 5th Gens due to a different ignition issue?

I've seen the stuff on Facebook but I was hoping for a more reliable source.

Anyone actually been contacted by GM yet?

Possibly, and I don't have a problem with that as long as I can still use my present key. I'll just throw the new 'panic' key in a drawer until I sell the car. But they'll likely do something to disable them.

I'm keeping my switchblade key. Guess I won't be going back to the dealership for my next oil change.

I would keep the key you all already have. My G8 had the same key and I couldn't ever see hitting that thing into the 'off' position. I did hit it once though and the case opened up while I was driving. I'm by no means a giant dude, 5'10" and 170lbs. It was weird but the car kept going so I just fixed it when I got to my destination. Only happened once in 35k miles with that car though.

I am not interested in doing this unless they change it to a push button start system. I don't need a fob with a separate key in my pocket. I think we should all patition GM to come up with a better (more contemporary) fix. Maybe we should all send an email to Fbodfather to come up with a better fix.

Not any more than what seems normal. My second key hasn't shown any evidence of the same issue, so I don't know why my first keyfob did that.

The only problem is my second keyfob trunk button doesn't work
