Pattern has been, release the car first, then in later years, create work arounds to service the car.

OK, car is fixed so they say.
Replaced emission vent valve, not a "broken wire". I took car to dealership with hardly any gas in tank knowing it was going to have to be dropped. GM assist helped me out too with this, my final price was $200.00 today plus my diagnostic was supposed to be waived but nothing was said of it. So job cost me $300.00, they told me it would have been over $800.00. No more CEL and remote start works again so I'm happy as long as it's fixed. They did drop the tank also... |

Just got a p0449 code on my 2010 w/ 51,000 miles. When they do the repair do they put in the new design or old?

Evap vent solenoid not covered?
William from Chevrolet Customer Svc is correct. My CEL came on for this problem at 87k miles and my dealer clearly explained to me why it wasn't covered. Besides having a loose gas cap that may trigger the code they also told me that if you chronically overfill your gas tank may also cause the solenoid to go bad. Anyone getting this repaired for less than $1000 is getting a deal. They had to remove the exhaust system and drop the rear axle to get to the part for replacement.

to save some money on the labor you can have them cut the exhaust instead of dropping it. if you don't mind it

I was quoted $620, debating on calling GM or just have someone else do it.

Mine just went bad also I'm starting to wonder if this is an issue with allot of Camaros. My dealer quoted me 675 to get it fixed. But knowing this issue is on allot of the LLT engine gm or Chevy should stand up and take responsibility for the issue because my dealer said that mine is the 5th one this year also called a few other dealerships and all said it is not a unique issue especially with the LLT engine. But the good part is it is only part of the emissions system and will not effect the performance of the vehicle and I just got my registration renewed so I have 2 years till I have to do something just got to live with the damn light lol. I will be calling GM soon because how it sits they should pay for it seeing how many have had this issue.

You would think they would be doing something. Or at least change the location.

But in doing some research this part has been a problem for most gm vehicles sine the early 90s and there is also a Tsb on the 2012 camaro for the same part so obviously gm knows there is a issue but they are to afraid to loose anymore money. Got in touch with gm with all this evidence there is an issue hopefully they do something or I'm trading the Camaro in for something else probably not a gm vehicle again though

Update got in touch with gm and told them of the issues that have had with the evap soelnoid and they are going to cover about 90% of it all I have to pay is $150. I emailed the gm rep and they got back to me and my dealership and they told me that would be the max I will pay so if you get this problem call gm and tell them that they obviously have a problem. I was hoping they would pay fully for it but IL take a 600 dollar discount. Hope it all works out for the rest of ya.
