Already put mine up for the winter, but I'll get ahold of them when I get it out.

Have you guys heard about a letter that is being sent out about this? Seems they know there's a problem with these canisters and are replacing them for free now, and if you had it completed they are reimbursing you whatever you paid.
Here's a pic of someone's letter they received. |

That's good because it's not a cheap fix, luckily I had GM assist involved. Now I have to see if I can get reimbursed.

Is this only for 2012 owners or have others gotten this letter?

Yup I got the letter as well. Mine actually went bad a few months after getting my car so it was covered under warranty.

So basically I'm being told if I don't get a letter I don't have a problem. I had this on my 2010 RS with 15,000 miles, I was just out of warranty. I had GM assist involved and they had me pay 200.00 plus the 80.00 for diagnostic. So shouldn't I get reimbursed? This is another of their hush, hush problems I guess. They don't want to do a another recall.
I'm not done yet !! |

Contacted a couple people from GM and getting the run around that they don't know anything about a letter.

I'm taking my 2012 V6 in for this issue tomorrow. When I first took it in (back in December), they told me they had to do the diagnostic on code P0442 and they found the vent solenoid issue. Quoted me $650 + tax and of course I was very upset. I got that exact letter from GM at the end of December saying they would cover the issue, but I'm just worried about the dealer being obnoxious and finding some little reason why it wouldn't be covered. The letter describes the exact issue the dealer had described to me, so I don't see why it wouldn't be covered- but I don't trust the dealership. I'll inform everyone tomorrow. Has anyone had any experience using the letter for a repair?

I don't see how any dealer world argue with that letter. In fact the dealer should already have that information too. If they do it's time to find a new dealer.
