NEXT CHEVROLET CAMARO Z/28 WILL HAVE A 7.0-LITER V-8

"If I were a betting man—and I am—I’d wager that the 7.0-liter in the Z/28 will be called the LT7. I didn’t exactly need a roadmap to figure that one out, I know.
The bump in power from the previous Z/28’s 505 hp to our guesstimated 540-565 hp will most likely come from the adoption of direct-injection, revised cylinder heads, a more lumpen cam—
basically all the stuff that changed from the LS3 to the LT1. There’s another 50 horsepower right there, easy.

Has team Camaro confirmed any of this? Absolutely not. That said, what else could be powering the insane looking Z/28? Seven liters baby, you heard it here first."

Damn I hope this comes true.

I have two LS7's in my garage. Stock 505HP in the Z/28 and 675HP in the FFR GTM. The 675 is simply cam and some headwork....incredible engine.

Please, oh please bring back the LS7!

Look at Katech's 7.0L that is a good indication of what a 7.0L would make when tuned for big power.

That speculation 'feels' right to me, though as always only time will tell just how accurate it is. Then again, that article is 9 months old and we don't really know much more now than we did last May.

And its nice to see you back, camaro5. I remember seeing you around a lot back in ye olde days.

Unless it is some new engine, the LS7 will not be it. It doesn't meet the EPA standards, plus the list of the certified GM engines that was released didn't have a LT7 on it anywhere, though it did have a LT5 if I remember right.

Ya, it is old, but it has some interesting info like "insiders told me".

Witty banter...

We just love us some speculating, don't we?

All good points here.

Good to see you DG!

Spirit never left.

"GM is believed to be working on a dual-overhead-cam 6.2L V-8 for use in the future Corvette and possible high-performance Camaro variants."

The DOHC rumor was from a VIN card and those have been wrong before. All it confirms is the LT5 is coming. Whether or not its DOHC is still to be seen.

Now that the ZL1 1LE has been released I'm convinced they will wait till the C8 DOHC engine is released... give the corvette a year or two with it alone... they produce a bored out version like the 7 litre was on the 5th gen...
