Official custom PAINTED STRIPES thread
No wraps! No Vinyl!
My car needs warranty paint work so I'm probably going to pay extra for something custom. Since I hadn't got as many replies to a recent thread I started as I would have hoped, I thought why not have a thread of custom painted stripes? Rally Stripes, pinstripes, flames, ghost stripes. I did search for a thread like this, and while I found many threads w/ custom stripes, they were almost all featuring one or two cars per thread. Not all were painted, some were vinyl some were wraps. Show off your custom painted stripes!

2013 SS w/ 1969 Z/28 Stripes
I had to have the front of my car repainted so I had the same idea. I have always liked the look of the hood and deck lid stripes. These are done to the same dimensions as a 1969 Z/28.

I had aftermarket factory style vinyl rallies, but they eventually began to crack and discolor. After removing those, I decided to go with a modified version of the stripes used on Bumblebee in TF3. I decided to have the stripes run up the raised portion of the cowl, extend all the way down the hood, and keep the pinstripe of the factory rally stripes.

The stripes are painted on over the clear, and then clear coated over.
The stripes are a metallic gun metal grey. The metallic matches the metallic of the silver. They wax just like the car. The clear coat makes them just as shiny as the rest of the car.

My stripes are painted over the original clear coat. They are painted in a satin or semi-gloss finish. Not sure about waxing, they were painted within the last few weeks and I am not suppose to detail the car for 6 week according to the painter. My assumption would be that waxing over them will cause bright spots, but I have not verified that yet.
