plasti Dip 1LE hood
I just learned about Plasti-dip and I think it's extremely awesome. If I was to use some to make a design on my hood, could I peel it off (if i don't like it) without damaging the hood? I know the hood is wrapped, so I figured i'd ask before I did anything.

Are you talking about on top of the hood wrap? if so, then when you peel that plastic dip of you might damage the hood wrap , but if you are planning to remove the hood wrap than plastic dip it than yeah it is safe and easy to remove

I was thinking about plasti-dipping just the sides of the hood, cause removing the vinyl hoodwrap itself wouldn't be time efficient. But I wont do it if peeling off the plasti dip will damage the vinyl-wrapped hood..

So you wanna keep the center black and make the sides a different color? I'm confused and don't think that plasti dip is meant to be on that hood wrap

I've done what your thinking of doing on other cars to see what patterns and designs and stripes and what not I like because yet it is very easy to remove off paint. But I would be leary about doing it on the wrap. You could potentially peel both off if you managed to get under the wrap somehow. Unlikely but possible. It takes a bit of friction and some rubbing to get the Plasti-dip started when you take it off, which is also how you would get the wrap off if you got it started by accident.

You can buy vinyl hood spears that will do the same thing. i've been told you can put vinyl on vinyl.

So will most any solvent, so if you do anything near the gas cap, eventually you'll have to re-spray or put a clear on it.

Just a thought - has anyone used plastidip on vinyl? What were the results? It might be fine, but I haven't heard if the solvents in the wet plastidip are safe on vinyl or if they get into the vinyl and mess it up. I'd test it on an inconspicuous spot before treating the whole thing. Might be fine but better safe than rewrapping...
