I am looking to do T Tops on my 2011 2SS/RS. Does anyone know if it will effect the integrity of the stabilty of the car itself once these cut outs are done? I really want to do this conversion but, am interested in doing smoked glass panels vs just using the original metal that was taken out. I want to speak with someone at West Coast Customs since I live in Las Vegas and can drive my car to them.

Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreicated.

I think if you beef up the suspension, you will get the rigidity back from cutting the top. You want to ask about cowl shake also. I do not know if the Verts have it, but some due from lossing the rigidity from the roof.

LG Motorspots and others have subframe connectors and other suspension pieces that really tighten up these cars. I had LG subframes, strut tower brace and suspesion V braces (connect to the subframes and to the center of the car) on my 99 Formula back in the day and it was rock solid.

Just my thoughts...

I had a '99 Trans Am with t-tops, loved 'em. My only issue with a conversion (not an expert obviously) would be roof rigidity after cutting out the panels. I'm assuming they do additional bracing in the roof area.

I can see the roof flexing too much and the panels not fitting as well over time, causing leaks and such. These cars look awesome with t-tops!

Thanks for the information. I'm going to contact a few shops to get some more info.

The Verts have extra frame braceing under car and under hood which gives it possibly better rigidity than the hard tops. This comes with a weight penalty of I believe about 200 lbs.

There is only one shop I've ever found or heard of that accepts the 5th gens and does the conversion, it's in Florida somewhere and expect to pay around 6,000 plus shipping of the whole car

There are 2 here. One quoted me around 10k for the kit and install.
