I don't think there's a dealer that is "Mod friendly".
GM will find any possible way to void your warranty once you touch your car with aftermarket parts. |

I don't think that its a good idea to point out a mod-friendly dealer on a public forum anyway. If GM gets wind of it, that dealer will get extra scrutiny which will probably cause him to become "unfriendly" in a hurry...
Similar to posting which inspection stations overlook mods like headers, etc.

to be honest.....it really depends on waht MODS you are talking about, adn what you are at the dealer for. There are things you can do that really won't effect the car at all as far as the warrenty goes....but once you get into the computer (tune it) or go into the internals (cams, cranks, pistons, etc..) or SC or Turbo it....the drivetrain warranty is TOAST....no matter where ya go. BUT there are dealers that will start giving you grief if you've done anything and your only in for a stickin oil change......then there are the ones that don't care as long as the issue you are there far isn't connected to the mods you've done.

First, wasn't trying to stir the old warranty debate - have seen this before, I know how warranties work and having had provide warranties in my previous business - I've seen and understand both sides - so my apologies for any confusion.
The original thought was if the dealer sold me and installed the "item" would they warranty said "item", even if limitations applied? Maybe I should have asked "who are the dealers in TX who are willing to sell and install perf parts?" The dealers I have talked in the area are content with tires and oil changes and want nothing to do with the performance side. HD has done this for several years and it largely depends on the dealer: some HD Dealers will only do HD perf parts, other will do anything you can order/buy within the dealership and have installed at the dealer. Limitations do apply, but it is being done. Thinking of an article in one of the magazines a couple of days ago, there was a Dealer named where a 2SS was custom built - roughly $45k in parts and labor on top of the price of the 2SS car. Hard to believe $85k on a street car from a Dealer and it would have no warranty on the modifications - even with limitations. I''ll admit I haven't called the dealer and asked. Granted if you have the $$$ to double the price of a Camaro, you may not care about the warranty. If no one in Texas does such a thing - great, I'll stop looking.

Glide, as stated earlier it depends on the mod and what is affected when you bring it in for service. We have a dealer here who installs exhaust systems, SCs, paint work, etc. and they provide a 12 mo. 12K mi warranty as long as buy it from them, you have them install it, and you don't mess with their tune. They have Vettes, Camaros, and older TAs in their shop, complete with dyno and tuner, all the time from both local folks and people across the country.
I'm not plugging them but there are dealers out there who work the perfromance side of the business. Nickey outside of Chicago has been doing it since the Sixties.
