Radar Detector-Where to Place-Need Suggestions

I have a Escort Passport 8500 radar detector (https://www.escortradar.com/store/pa...0-x50-red.html) and want to know where i should put it. In all are other cars we have them suctioned to the window with the suction cups they give you but those leave permanent rings on the window, which i do not my Camaro to have. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the help

May not solve the suction issue... http://www.guysoflidar.com/detectormounting.html, but that will get you best results.

There is a guy on the 350z forums that manufactures mounts meant to wrap around the rearview mirror post. he makes one specifically for the 8500 and one for the Valentine 1

I have one in the GTO for my Escort 8500 X50 and it is fantastic. Very easy to hardwire coming down from the headliner.

If you want his info, let me know, they are not very expensive (20 bucks)

I have mine suction cupped right below the mirror, it does cut down the visibility a bit, but I havn't thought of anything better. Hmm, that mirror mount looks promising..

I guess i never seen suction cup rings that wouldn't clean off....

In my BMW I have my STi mounted (suction cup) to the window and the far drivers side. It sit below my garmin GPS and only I can see it when sitting in the car. I love it there, but I doubt it would recieve a laser hit from the rear and you may have to count on a radar bounce as well from the rear off a street sign. Being aware of the issue is half the battle. I bent the mount slightly to meet the curve of the window.

I also have a rx 65 or whatever it is (Bel) in my Sierra. I have a dash mat in the truck and it is simply velcroed to it where the power cabel runs out of the way of any radio controls. Having not even sat in a Camaro yet, I can't offer up any ideas other than what I have done with other vehicles.

Mounting low in an attempt to detect Laser better is stupid IMO... by the time your radar detector gets a laser hit, you are already busted... pull over.

Id keep it mounted high for the best pickup of radar. Mirror mount ftw

Aren't they illegal? If so...wouldn't you want it somewhat hidden?

I just bought the same radar detector. I've been checking this out on Amazon.com. It gives you both windshield and dashboard mount options.
