I'm thinking about buying a used ZL1, probably a 2020-2023. I found a 2020 and a 2021 with the 1LE package. The 2020 has 20k miles on it and the 2021 has over 50k miles. Both have PDR. The 2021 has a few more options than the 2020. Both are prices about the same, within $500 of each other. I like the color and the option list on the 2021 more than the 2020 but the miles concern me.
Also, I will probably never run the car on the track. I've found a couple non 1LE cars that I like that are newer and with less miles. Would y'all buy a new car for around the same price or buy one of the 1LE cars?
There is a new 2023 at a dealership listed at a really good price. It has the options that I would want but I'm not crazy about the color.
Almost all of the ones I'm I have looked at would have to be shipping to me.

I would get the newer car and not the 1LE package.

If all you want is a fast car and it won't see the track, I'd get a non 1le, you will save some $ when you have to replace the shocks and brakes.

Or, just buy the new one and wrap it and call it a day.

The other benefit of buying from a dealer you supposedly have less stress in the purchase as long as they are an honest dealer.

I bought my 1LE as a CPO and there was damage they "didn't see" that I had to repair. Nothing major, just some scuffs on the hood wrap, but still pissed me off.

I have no patience, so there is also that.

If you are not going to track the car, the non 1LE will not disappoint you! Also has a little better ride on the pothole streets

OP, if you can afford it I'd seriously consider the 2023 over an older used one.

Thanks for the responses. Most of the non 1LE cars I like are convertibles. Any disadvantage to buying one of them as opposed to a coupe? I recently bought a 2024 2SS coupe and thinking a convertible would be kinda nice to have.

I have given that one a lot of thought. I like everything about the car except the color. When I was looking for my 2SS it was one of the colors that I wouldn't even look at. I don't want to buy it and have it wrapped as soon as I got it.

I would never buy a used muscle car, go for the 23 with a factory warranty. ZLE could be hard to live with as a daily, if you had given that a thought.

There are trade off’s to having and not having the convertible, just browse the convertible forums. Things like farmer will start pestering you if you don’t have a convertible convertible top issues/maintenance is another thing

I’d keep looking for the newest one you can get until you find one that you’re satisfied with. You may have to look a little while longer or be willing to travel further. You should be able to find one without the 1LE package.

The thing with zl1 is the previous owner knows what they have and driven the shit out of it or the previous owner doesn’t know what they have and it scared the shit out of them so it’s a 50-50 chance that it’s been driven hard or not driven at all

if you are going to keep this a long time the 1LE is the one you want-how many of these do you see...Not many as for the whole production run was around 5000. Yes the ride is not a luxury car ride but how many miles are you driving a car like this anyway, a deal is out there you just need to find it.

If you are not going to track the car, then go for the non-1LE car. I was in the same situation a couple of years ago when I bought my ZL1. I like the 1LE package (rear wing and canards), but I wouldn't recommend it for daily driving. At the end it's the same engine so, apart from some track-oriented add-ons, both cars are equally fast and great looking - actually the ZL1 is a bit faster in a straight line. Whatever your decision, you are not going to regret it!
