Swap complete. Stepped up from 3.45 to ZL1 3:73. Also DSE alum bushings and Z28 Inner upper control arm bushings. Holy crap... car isn't making any more power, but with the everything tightened up, and the bit of extra gear ratio, traction is a real problem now....

I took a job up in VA so I completed everything and got her back on the road. Next time I go home (GA) I will check the that the bushes are timed properly and get JPSS drag spec alignment done...

I feel that the extra movement allowed by the stock bushings actually helped traction on the street, but at the track, I am pretty sure that extra movement allowed some wheel hop and that is what tool out the spider gears on the stock diff...

Update: The Detroit Speed solids add a bit of drivetrain noise - not much though. Had a good alignment done to the popular 5th gen drag specs. Very happy. I really like the 3.73 gear in the ZL1 diff. Puts the engine in a better position for around town driving. My exh system has some drone but the 3.73's have moved the rpms in 3-5 gear that I get much less drone around town.

It's been a while...

Went to a Cars and Coffee track day event Saturday. Only got to make 3 passes. On 20" Nitto DR's went 11.55 but MPH was 134. So I have a 10 second capable car with a 11.5 second driver. It was my 5th pass in car so much more seat time is prescribed. Need to learn how to launch an M6 car and not hit the rev limiter in 3rd gear. Next time out I will put on the 17" drag slicks. Looking suspension parts now...

I feel your pain man. Only 1/4 mile pass I got to make last year was 14.1 at 139.89 mph. Pulled it out of gear on launch. Had a 4 second 60ft. Still can’t believe I did that. HaHa.

Just been enjoying the car. Picked up a 120k mile L96 engine. Broke it down to block which I will use to build a forged short block and step up to 408ci, more cam and more boost. It will be a slow process, but enjoyable and a chance to teach my son more about engines.

Respectable, enjoy the build! Good on you trying to teach your son about it.

Just finished the same setup. LY6 block. Getting the tune lined out still but its a beast. Got to start stocking ZL1 diff parts now. Everything is harder to find.
