My dealer says that he doesn't know when he is going to get another allocation, but that it should be soon. Does he really not know, or is he just stringing me along so that I won't place an order with another dealer? Is there any way that a dealer can find out when they will have another allocation?

Dealers know Total allocations by the month. So I would say he is stringing you along.

If the dealer doesn't know when he'll get another allocation, I would take it that the ones he does have and knows about are all taken. There seems to be a lot of dealers, and the especially good ones that contribute to this site, that are getting open allocations. I'd shop for one that truly has an open allocation and have him prove it by showing you the GM Workbench event code of 2000 or greater within a week or two of your order.
