FYI Stainless Works header/Exhaust connection
This is just information about factory connection to performance connection. I never could find a clear answer on here so here's the answer.
I recently ordered a full exhaust(headers to tips). When I ordered I made the mistake of ordering both headers and cat back for factory connection. After the order I realized it necked down to 2.5" at the cats then back to 3". Not really a big deal, but for some reason it bugged me because it wasn't going to be a full 3". The person I ordered from told me he would make the changes so it would be a full 3" system(awesome). I received the cat back and it was for factory connection(got kinda worried). Received the headers and they were performance connection(ummmmm). I started doing some research and found a couple of post on here where one vendor said it wont work that you needed a whole new system and the other vendor said it will work, but no 100% answer. Made some calls to Stainless Works and they got back to me very quickly. Explained the issue to them and told them from the looks of it all I have to do is replace the mid pipe with the performance one and I should be good to go. He tells me that's correct and that everything will bolt up and that's what it is designed for. So if you decide on adding headers later on and you already have the SW factory connection cat back all you have to do is get the performance connect headers and you have a full 3" system. |

You will still need to cut the cat-back with the factory connect for the performance mid pipe to work....

Negative, the headers come with the replacement pipes.

So the factory connection portion of the cat-back is removable?

If you run the factory connect Retro Chamber exhaust and decide to add headers all you need to do is order the performance header set. The headers will come with 3" replacement pipe.

Wow, good to know! I guess I assumed that different part numbers meant permanent configurations....

Mid pipes get replaced and leave you with the factory connect mid pipes as extras |

It's a long way to Ohio, maybe you could just have them stay close to a phone in case I need some tech support.

Well, this definitely moves SW up in my list of exhaust options...

Let me get this straight, you have two sets of mid pipes?
