Grooving cylinder heads

Just heard of this and was about to do some internet research, but wanted to give a shout out to my Camaro5 brothers and see if we have any experts.

Sounds a bit like voddo science, but I guess direct injection sounded the same not that long ago.

I guess I don't completely understand how a sharp groove cut into the combustion area of the head isn't going to result in a hot spot?
There's a reason we've polished the tops of pistons and tried to make it so it isn't going to get a hot spot but maybe it works on lower compression?

The channels spreading out from the source of ingition would make sense if there was proof that the channels would carry the ignition to the outer edges of the cylinders..

After talking with a friend who customizes Harley's, he did state that he has seen this process done on a few bikes but still was not able to provide a good details on benefits and risk of doing this.

On direct injected engines the whole design (heads, pistons, injectors) are designed to propogate the flame in a very specific manner. I wouldn't do this on our engines for anything in the world.

I find it hard to belive that this would be an option for many engines.

I really don't see why this would hurt any combustion engine. I like the idea of someone stepping outside the box. That is how we advance. Sign me up. I got a couple of cars I would try it on.

Hot spots and stress concentration would outweigh any benefits as far as I can see.
