Launch RPM with 325 M&H DR's

Got some time to kill, so I thought I would ask this. I am soon going to be adding 17x 10 Weld with 325/45R17 DR's. I am around 470 rwhp m6 trans and gforce 9 inch kit with 4.11 gear. Running a Textralia oz 700 HD clutch. What Rpm should I be shooting for on the launch without grenading tranny? Thanks for any input!

11.57 @ 126.8 mph with a crappy 1.80 60'.....still learning to drive....M&H DR's and skinnies on 17" Welds.

I'd hold it around 2000 rpm. Then feather the clutch out very quickly ( third yellow start ). Don't just dump the clutch, the car will fall on its face and probably stall.

I already launch 2500 - 2800 on Invos with minimal spin for a 1.90 60'. Hoping for 1.6x to 1.7x 60'. Guess I'm more concerned about how much abuse the stock m6 tranny can take. Any moderate powered racers out there with more input or experiences?

That's good to hear! I guess its all how you slip the clutch. Do you have DR's? What kind of times are you getting?

I have nitto nt05r DR, best 60' was a 1.6? Can't remember exactly. I haven't raced this year yet. I'm waiting on the weather to cool down some here. My best time last year was 11.89, but that was with a slipping clutch and broken spider gears in my rear. Since then, I've put the DSS 9' rear in and put lingenfelters ZR1 clutch and flywheel in. Hoping for much better times this year. I'd like to see low 11's and maybe a high 10.

If your rear is stock, I'd be very careful with DR. I think my rear lasted 8 passes.

Thanks for the info! I am running full Gforce 9 inch kit with 4.11 gears. Looking for low 12's or high 11's.

I'd take it off the line at about 3500-3800 rpm
I pulled 5 consececutive 1.6xx 60 foot times on 18 inch drag radials Nto5r
Photos of time slips on the 60 foot recoed.
It took 662 ft lbs of torque to damage my trans.

Made the car much nicer to drive, snappier. Doesn't drive like a 4000 lb car! Going from a 3.70 to 4.11 may not be noticeable right away, but would definitely show in et. I gained et and didn't lose any mph.

That's about what was thinking of starting at. Thanks. I'm sure I'll entertain the track crowd with a few bogs at first!

Thanks Rick, lol. Don't worry, the car gets beat on plenty. Its been down the track a lot on street tires!

Get any time slips with that new cam in the car yet? I would love to be able to run at sea level. Lol
