Breaking loose
I have a 2014 convertible, manual 6 speed, stock except cold air induction and ported throttle body. My problem is: at a rolling start, when I stomp on it the tires never break loose even with traction control off. I would think with 580 HP it should break loose fairly easy. My question is: is everybody else in the same boat? Want to burn rubber, thanks for any input.

I got the same car in a 2015 and I felt the same way. Under ideal conditions with hot road and warm tires this thing takes off with minimal or zero wheel spin. I normally just pop the clutch a little to break em loose and enjoy the smoke show. If it is cooler however, I've had the wheels break loose in second.
I also thought with 580hp this thing would be all over the road. I guess with modern engineering and good rubber it isn't the case. I probably shouldn't admit this but I've thought about buying some crappy rims and tires and swapping them out so I could burn em off for a weekend. No high speed stuff. Just massive burnouts without dropping a grand on 2 back tires. |

You shouldn't be having any trouble breaking them loose. I've got an automatic, and since I got a tune and headers, it will spin them when it shifts into third. A tune really wakes these cars up.

Go fast, please.

In reality the less the tires break loose the better. That just means they are doing their job and sticking.

I have no issues getting loose.....
Oh...we're talking about the rear tires on a ZL1...never mind.

I remember when mine was stock it didn't really want to spin the tires at all. I turned the traction control off but it still didn't matter. Then I turned everything off by holding the traction control button for seven seconds and then it would spin the tires easily.

I have a 2013 manual and also thought 580HP would be a little more "crazy". I can spin through 1st while rolling and a little of 2nd but not much. It will not spin just flooring it in 2nd. My 2002 Z06 was much more of a handful in 1st and 2nd than my ZL1. Maybe it's the 90+degree FL weather?

The car loves 30 to 50 degrees, you can feel the difference in the car at those temps.
