Opened fog light area

I have the Rotofab big gulp modified to point up to the RPM 5 inch Intake but wanted it opened like the CTS-V.

I ordered a spare cover from Amazon, cut out the circles, cut a square beside the fogs and darkened it with Satin black.

I can easily put the stock cover back on and you would never know.

I carry some carpet plastic sheeting in the trunk in case I get stuck in rain, but that never happens.

Thanks for posting, that looks like a nice and reversible mod. If I do something with that light housing like you did I might leave alone that blocking plastic near the radiator as that looks minor compared to this. I wonder if I could cut nice lines like that.

Between using a dremel drum to sand the lines and a utility knife on the bezel it was easy. I used a small air recip saw for the flap by the light, but there's a ton of meat there to open as much or little as you like.

I took a pic to try to help others visualize why this is brilliant but the pic doesn't show well. With other common CAI's there is only a small window next to the radiator for them to breath from. It is cluttered with airflow interfering blockages too. I thought I was going to have to do a windshield washer bottle relocate to find some airflow. This ingenious mod will allow slightly pressurized cold air in next to the small, pingpong to tennis ball sized area coming up from the housing next to the inner fender and WW bottle up to the filter. The plastic housing is only under $20 shipped. Unbelievable mod per $ spent. Open hood vs closed hood dynos give some idea of the restriction where 5hp? was found with open hood.
