I ordered some race stars back in July...and I am just now getting the tires delivered today. Was trying to find a setup that will work for street and strip use for now, without changing over.

I have 18x10.5 rear and 18x5 front wheels. Going to be running a 555r in 305/40/18, and 28x6 Sportsman SR on the front. I have a buddy running the sportsmans on the front of his 4th gen and he drives on the streets no issues with them, so I think it will be fine. Hope to have them mounted and rolling around next week. Maybe I can get it out of the hole a bit better now
That sounds like a pretty reasonable combo that would be ok on the street, not good but not terrible. Like I said, mine handles like a straight up lumber wagon and is not safe in rain. Give yourself more time to brake and drive carefully! And avoid potholes like the plague!!! I hit one and it bent my front right rim and now it won't hold more than 20 psi. I need to talk to John about a replacement, and those shank lugs are terrible, gonna look into the ARP set that ttshovel got...

Curious you going with ID 1700s for your future FI plans?

My problem seems to be when I've got $$$ there is no time, and when there's time no extra money. Funny how that can work.
Thanks man, it feels like its right there, too, it just may take a bit more modification. And yes, ID1700 or 2000 will be what I get as I am looking to make around 1200rwhp on corn with the F1-X and I will go Moser solid axle so I can launch hard. Looking to get mid 8s in the 1/4 and still be able to drive it on the street. Probably won't have it till I am old haha.

That's kind of what I was shooting for. Something that would be "ok" for both street and strip without having to change them out. Got mine mounted for the first time last week, and after that PITA, I'm glad I went for something I don't need to change just for the track. These racestars are a PITA. Or the rear at least, front wasn't so bad.

First trip out with the skinnies...it's definitely a lot different feel from the front of the car! Immediately noticed after a spirited run, what people mean about needing more time to brake. As for rain, I try to avoid it with this car, but hopeful these grooved tires are at least a little better than some others should I find myself in that position
