I also think newer models could enter manual mode temporarily while in drive, but I am not sure on this.

Once I am in TapShift mode I have to drop the gear selector back to drive and then back to M (Sport Mode) to let it shift on it's own with the harder shifts, or I can leave it in drive for lighter shifts. So basically for my model year the only way to leave manual/TapShift mode is to move the shifter out of Sport mode.
Mine is a 2012 and if I hold down the upshift paddle for a few seconds it goes back to sport mode. Would be nice if it did it automatically since I’m always afraid to over rev the engine

Yeah I wish the 2010's did that.

While in S (sport mode), use the paddle to downshift (this locks you into manual shift mode), then immediate slip the shifter forward into D (auto mode) to handle the shifting from there. If you want you can then pull the shifter back into S mode for more manual shifting. Practice frequently to build muscle memory.

Dont know what the hell your talking about bud ?

Converters have a lock and unlock , think of its as lock = 1 to 1 for power transfer "it is not one to one just best way i can explane it" , unlock lets the converter slip to drop the rpms while staying in the same gear.... not a good thing plus builds excessive heat that hurts the hydraulic system

Nothing idiotic about asking a honest question, if you have ever hit the O/D off or tow/haul button in any auto transmission car or truck you have locked it in

Its not going to change the world or give you more power , but it will ensure you get much better chance getting the "hit" on the roll. And all us real street guys know the hit can be the difference between getting gapped or gapping on a roll

My 2015 allows me to shift anytime with the paddle without going to sport mode on the shifter. If i don't change gears after a few seconds, it will default back to auto shifting. But you don't have to put it in Sport mode to paddle shift.
