Top Secret: z28 dyno numbers

just got some info today from a lil birdy; GMPP used a local dyno here to do some testing. The Z28 made8 489RWHP. with a set of custom headers it picked up 44 rwhp. sorry to let the cat out of the bag

I know its fun to get specific info like this and let it out, but it can be potentially damaging the Z28 program and your local shops prospects of ever working with GM again. That being said, they sure have been going out of their way for the last month or so to tease everyone so it can only be expected. It sure would be cool if the factory could squeeze out an even 500 at the wheels.

Hmm.

Why would GMPP need to go to a 'local dyno' to test an upgrade on GM's new engine?

GM has the facilities to do that sort of testing themselves ...

Pre-messaging is all the rage these days in marketing. That's why you see spy shots of the z tooling around towns and "secrets revealed" articles in magazines. It helps build buzz.

If true the z28 will come well built up. But a built up SS is always a good thing. :-)

Well, what does a CTS-v put down with a set of headers? I think it should be close to that same number then I'm sure a small tweaking of the tune will easily put 500 to the wheels
