Anyone have issues with clear coat and bird poop?
Need help! I've had the car a month now and had even waxed it a couple of weeks ago. Anyhow I walk outside today and there was two bird droppings on the roof. I was in a hurry going somewhere so I figured I'd get to it later in the day. The droppings could not have been on the car more than 24 hrs more likely 12. Anyhow all the stuff washed away no problem, but when I walked around the car and looked across the roof I noticed the outline of the splatters where still there . Upon closer inspection the whole area where the poop was looked to have damaged/smudged the clear coat finish. I tried continuously washing the area and even using zanos all in one cleaner polish, but very little if any change. The only think I can think of to do is claying the area and re-polishing. Anyone else have any ideas or solutions ? Thanks. I've never had a finish on any of my cars and 3 other camaros be smudged like that hope this is not a sign of things to come.

Can only be taken out wetsanded. Took her up to friend who manages body shop at Chevy dealer. It is from the acid in bird crap.

Clay takes sediments out..what you have is etching of the clearcoat. You can wetsand yourself with 2000 grit...but better left to a pro.

Well most of the time a cheap wax will be put on the car when the dealers do make ready prep. If you don't want to spend money on Zanio there are a couple others cheaper that are good. Look in Cosmetics Forum.

Good luck to you...hope you get the "spot" out.............good to know that "sooner, rather than later" is important in that type of situation...I always try my best to remove it ASAP, however, that's not always possible......

It didn't make a difference... Heres the scoop on the poop.. If car is hot and a bird dumps and it dries, expect clearcoat damage. If car is cool, and bird takes a dump, damage is much less...Also depends on bird, diet and acid content. That coming from two guys with 45 years in the paintbooth for GM.

Just get it off asap. it doesnt take long to stain. Dont just wipe it off, Bird crap has little tiny stones in it that will scratch the hell out of your car. pour hot water over it until its gone, try not to wipe it, but as soon as you see it get it off, once the sun hits it it doesn't take long to leave a mark. I know this because my slob ex wife left tons of it on her 50,000 tahoe and never cleaned it, stains everywhere now.
