LFX Exhaust Question

I have a 2015 Rs V6 with a Hooker Blackheart axleback it sounds very similar to to mrt 2, the issue I have is it drones very bass like and vibrates the cabin at certain rpm. I want to put a res x pipe but don't want to lose all that nice sound that came along with my Blackheart. Would a res delete and/or pipe swap to 2.5 be a good side part to res x pipe? (I cant get high flows)

Unfortunately, that's one of the drawbacks of putting an aftermarket exhaust on just about any 6-cylinder engine. They all do it. My V6 Challenger did the same thing. As did my V6 Charger (with the earlier V6 engine than the Challenger had).

I just put mine on on Friday and it does it around 2800-3200 rpm --- even with the Resonated X-Pipe. While I absolutely love the full-throttle and idle sounds, the other RPM sounds have me seriously considering removing the Axle-Back System but leaving the Resonated X-Pipe on. Has anyone out there done that?

My search is for power -- not just sound. If it can realistically make the same kind of power with basically the factory exhaust on it, I may just go that route and proceed with the Overkill TB, Intake Manifold Spacer and Hypertech Tuner.

Just my .02....

Here's a link to what my system sounds like

But yes I've seen muffler delete is very popular with a res x pipe but I spent around d $500 for that axle so should I just try the res x pipe first and see how that goes?

I'm not referring to deleting the mufflers. I'm just referring to replacing the factory H-Pipe with the Magnaflow Resonated X-Pipe to give the factory sound some deeper tone -- and then keeping the larger tips at the back of the system.

Perhaps even deleting the resonators along the way.

Fortunately as well, I got my system on sale for $199 so I'm not out as much.

I guess what i am trying to get out of it is more volume and kill the drone slightly, bc that blackheart system has zero rasp and all deep tones throughout the rpms it just needs more volume

I believe you can buy "J pipes" from companies such as Solo Performance that will reduce/eliminate drone; these pipes can be welded onto your existing system, before the mufflers - whether or not they'll fit depends on the size of your mufflers, however.

I tell you guys, I bought my axle back Dynomax VT valvetech system for $400 a couple years back and there is absolutely no drone at all. I left all the stock cats ,resonators, and h-pipe on and love it. It's not stupid loud all the time, but that's what I wanted. Nice low tone at start up. When the exhaust pressure opens the valves and goes straight thru, it gets plenty loud, I call it hitting the loud peddle. When cruising at a steady pace or on the freeway, there's no drone at all. You don't have to yell to talk to your passenger or have the stereo at ridiculous levels just to drown out the droning exhaust. It does come with 4 inch tips also.

Kenny. What model number DynoMax VT do you have? To be honest, all this talk about drone and whatnot has me really second guessing the x pipe / resonators and muffler delete. I already bought the x pipe but haven't installed yet. As I said before, I am NOT looking to hack my exhaust up numerous times like others have to get it right. I also don't want stupid loud, guy with a V6 trying to pretend it's a V8 either. Just looking to deepen the tone and ditch the stock suitcases.

I just went on summit, used the search filter, set to my car, went to exhaust/axleback, looked up the dynomax vt series. I think it was Dynomax VT 44. Use the filter, then check the more details when you select it, and it will tell you if it is compatible with your car. I like it cause it's not obnoxiously loud all the time, only when I want it to be, and best of all no drone at constant or highway speed.

Sspade I completely agree with you, I'd rather not pay tons of money trying to get it how I fix issues I want to get it right the first time. I was hoping someone could shed some light on my first question to help me out.

kenny do you mind sharing a clip? I've seen some on youtube and most exhaust clips or anything really is about SS. Kinds regret not buying an SS.

I am too second guessing resonated x-pipe and muffler delete.
