Sat in a 2017 ZL1 at Dealer today.

While at the dealer getting oil changed I really examined 2017 3 Camaros on the lot, two black & one red...how stereotypical.

Sitting in the ZL1, suede was everywhere! 62,000 with convertible. 600 for the shaker insert for hood, carbon fiber covered. Glossy front end, huge glossy lower grill - just waiting for rock chips. I did sense the smaller cockpit, but there was no difference in headroom from Gen 5 that I could sense.

The RS 1LT had the smaller infotainment screen that actually looks smaller than Gen 5's. Keep your 20 inch wheels, give me 19s and the same screen that is in the SS's & upper levels. Deplorable Chevy! Why would a Equinox get a bigger screen??

The biggest take away from the interior is the steering wheel. It is too small, almost kid sized. The Camaro logo looks chintzy compared to 2010-2012 logo.

Thank heavens a refresh is in the works for 2019!

Chevy engineers have a hard job, meet expectations of millions of people with different opinions. I would be happy with a 2017 ZL1 1LE, they could leave the infotainment system out for my build! I have had my car for 2 months and haven't turned the radio on yet, that 2017 10 speed is crazy good, compare that car to any other car in performance and you are double the price.

I wouldn't be happy with that car ! I'd be happy with a hellcat or a gt350 not the gt350R

You don't have to double the price to beat the new ZL1. For less than $20K more, you can step into a Dodge Demon and run 0-60 in 2.3 secs and the 1/4 mile in the mid 9's at 150+.

That would be more than enough to handle any ZL1 and as a bonus, you get room for three more passengers and a much bigger trunk.

The Alpha based 6th gen is too compromised in rear seat leg/head room and trunk space.

Until you want to turn. You also only run those numbers on 100 octane race gas and skinnies. It's an impressive car that does one thing very well, but it couldn't keep a ZL-1 in sight around a racetrack.

Good job comparing apples to oranges! The Demon is setup for drag racing, the ZL1 is setup for road courses. If you want a Camaro that is setup for drag racing from the factory then look at the COPO and it is faster than the Demon.

The demon doesn't have a back seat. I'm not sure if it even has a front passenger seat.

The front seat is a $1 option and I think the back seats are as well.

But your Demon can't take a corner and it's got Dodge reliability....for $20K more. You're talking about numbers that the average driver would never be able to reproduce on the street and were marketed based on optimum conditions and professional drivers. These cars are all insanely fast and to buy one vs the other based on the numbers is kinda silly unless you're a dedicated track guy. If you want to quote 0-60 times, then include skidpad numbers and lap times.

There is a new ZL1 1LE at my local dealership I can't believe they were asking 88,000 they must be marking it up quite a bit at imagine? They kind of freaked out when I open the doors and started looking around all the suede details was pretty nice with the red seat belts.

62k for a convertible is a decent price. Gloss and the matte textured plastic both look rough after getting nicked up. The gloss, however, is less likely to be suffer the discoloration and fading that the textured plastic does.

It doesn't. The Equinox LT requires an option package to upgrade to the 8" display.

The steering ratio is quicker than the 5th gen's 16.1:1. The wheel size is actually quite comfortable. There's no learning curve moving from my 2010 to the '17 or bouncing between my '14 and the '17. The wife feels the steering is too quick for her in the '17, while I wanted a more responsive ratio in my '10 when I had it, coming from the IROC with the 12.1:1 which, comparatively, is very snappy. It will be a matter of preference and road feel.

And the Hellcat is a 1-hit wonder with a boat-floaty ride that can't corner and requires race fuel for it's lofty run times. Stick a rocket in a '59 Caddy and you have the same thing, but with more style.
