11.48 in the 1/8 mile?
If I'm correct I believe stock Camaros usually run in the 8.xx range unless you are at a really high elevation. |

Something not right. You should be runnning anywhere from low 8s to low 9s in the 1/8 mile.
Low 8s = (high 12s in the 1/4 mile) excellent and faster than average. Mid 8s = (low 13s in the 1/4 mile) very good High 8s = (mid to high 13s in the 1/4 mile) average Low 9s = (low 14s in the 1/4 mile) off the pace Mid 9s = (mid 14s in the 1/4 mile) more pratice needed |

no i believe you are thinking of a 1000 foot time an 1/8th mile is a little bit longer or maybe its the other way around idk but the fastest times were lows 10s and i know forsure its not a 1/4th mile

The 11.41 sound about right for the 1000' but really depends on the location (elevation) and weather conditions..

I went through some old time slips from my previous cars.
Your 11.41 sec. in the 1000' would be a mid 13 sec (13.6s or so) run in the 1/4mile. In my GTO, I ran 11.27 sec. at the 1000' mark on a 13.4 sec run. I ran 11.11 on a 13.2 sec run. |

Can someone explain to me where the half-assed idea of running a 1000' race came from? Now the top fuel and funny cars all run 1000' instead of a 1/4 mile.

A very well known funny car driver was killed when his blower popped going through the traps at 300mph, and he was unable to slow the car down, thus hitting the end retaining wall at about 200mph. Most 1/4 mile tracks were designed and built in the 50's and 60's with adequate shut-down area for the fastest cars trapping 175-200mph. Today these same facilities are 100% inadequate for supporting proper shut-down from a 330mph pass. That is why they shortened the track. A little slower top speed and a little longer shut-down area, means they might save a life. |

Well, maybe 1000' is okay for the Fuelers, but not for street cars. Run them out to the quarter and be done with it, lol. Of course, this coming from a guy who only has 1/8 mile tracks locally, lol.
BTW, got to run next to a LS3 Camaro a few weekends back, bone stock, he was averaging 8.8 @ 88mph in the 1/8th. That's a lot of 8s, lol.

You didn't show us your 60' time. A good run starts with a fast 60' time. If you can get sub 2.0 sec 60', you should be able to run the times you're wanting.
10.9s in the 1000' would be 12.9s in the 1/4 mile. That's very possible with good driving. Not everyone can do it, but some can. Your track conditions also play a big part. Some tracks are a lot faster than others (elevation, track prep, etc). I've been on tracks that aren't much different from being on the street (basically no prep at all). I've also run on tracks that are sticky as glue. So track conditons play a big part. ALSO - DO NOT run with your 220 lb buddy in the car. That will significantly slow you down (a couple tenths). |

My best 1000' run bone stock is 10.656. Lose the passenger and you should drop .2 or more. Post the time slip if you can, we need to see the 60' time.
