My KB motor blew up!!

As the title says, I blew up my motor ..

Was on a long cruise with a bunch of friends, and got on it pretty good..The friend that was behind me called and said I coated his windshield with oil.

I got off at the next exit to check things out, and as I slowed, I heard a noise that sounded like a valve tapping..Well friends..it wasnt a valve...lol

Car has 4,9xx miles on it..Along with the KB, it has a cam and headers..Also have an Alky Control meth system, and a 13 pound pulley that was waiting to go on it when this happened..lol

Oh well.. part of the fun of hot rodding is breaking stuff!! Now I just got to figure out how big I'm gonna go with the rebuild!!!

Are sure the meth was running? It looks like you had leaned out and the high temperature broke the ring. The weakest part of this engine is the rings and piston. I should add "When F/I" is added". Those rings aren't design to handle the high boost and the high tempreture.

How long did you keep it in boost? I bet more 30 seconds. At least you didn't damage the block and the head.

It put down 587 RWHP. The a/f's were in the 12's, and I was only running 8 lbs of boost.

My honest opinion of what happened?? I think the o-ring on the injector for #1 cylinder wasnt sealing all the way, and sucked just enough extra air in to create the hotspot, but not enough to read on my wideband!!

And dont be sorry!! Hell, now I got an excuse to buy that 454 LSX...at least thats what I want to do!!!
