20" wheels and car washes
Have you gotten wheel damage from a commercial car wash?

Stay away from any car wash that touches your vehicle. If I can't hand wash (ie winter) I'll swing by to a touchless carwash to get the bulk of road grime off until I can wash it myself at a later time

Any automated car wash that touches the surface of your car, or uses those rails to guide the wheels - avoid them at all costs. You might as well drive through a hall full of drapes made of sandpaper.

Yup... Just two weeks ago... 90° turn in to the stall and I didn't make it straight enough.. My driver's front wheel has a 2in gash through the polish in it now on one of the spokes..
P/O for sure. |

Yes, i damaged the front and back drivers side wheels over a year ago in one of those automated car washes. The Tire guides scraped against the wheel when i was guiding it into the wash. Took the paint right off the wheel.

My camaro has never seen a touch car wash, but my girls mazda 3 came up with a huge bend in the front right rim the other day. It was crazy, we went to the place we got the rims and the guys were scratching their heads wondering how it happened. The lip of the rim had a HUGE bend on the outer rim ring, tire had no scratches and rim had no scratches. but the rim lip was bent up about .5 inch. Girl had been going through the guide through car wash and the lady led her too close to the guide and it bent the rim bad!! I feel your pain! they were brand new rims!

The car wash I take my wife's car to, I've seen a couple of Bentleys. I couldn't believe it. If you have a $200,000 car why use a commercial wash.

I had the factory "polished" but coated 20's on my Trailblazer SS, and the finish did not hold up very well... The Camaro Wheels left me to search for the grey wheels on my SS, not silver, or polished.
I know it is not "finish" you are speaking to, but even the chemicals they use are harsh at times....those car washes are or pain, cheaper and safer to wash at home.... BUT I can tell you I am guilty of commiting that "sin".... Do they have a waiver? |
