4L80 Swap TCU Options
I'm trying to pick an aftermarket TCU for my 4l08e swap and I'm wondering if some members here could give opinions.
The setup will be going from a M6 to the 4l80e. Car is a summer cruiser that I take to the strip and race periodically. would like to retain cruise and other creature comforts. I was looking at the EZ TCU from TCI, but I've heard you cannot retain cruise control with this one. What TCUs are you all running, what is the best option? |

I have a u.s. shift quick 1. I dont think you can retain cruise control with any of them.

for the big turbo setups you can add a map sensor and use it to tune part throttle shifts. I started with the ez tcu but you literally have no control over the part throttle shift points at all. there's a reason pcs claims to have the best 4l80 controller on the market, they do with the pcs 2000 you can data log.

So one of the other things I read is that some of them don't like you do kickdown shifts, I'm assuming since PCS is more tunable that you could tune those in?

I got my kit from RPM transmissions 4L80e Stage 5. Direct bolt in, mostly. Took a little work to get the trans temp gauge in the console up and running. Everything worked as stock. I don't know which TCU came with the kit but you can give them a call.

UPDATE:
Talked with RPM, they recommended MSD Atomic TCU. Works well in this specific application (allows you to retain cruise). Asked about PCS, they said this is another option, but still recommended MSD. |
