2009 Mustang Priced close to Camaro V6

Now please no flaming here, but I saw this the other day and thought it was interesting.

Ford is now offering $2500 + rebates on the 09 Mustangs.
Now this makes it interesting since an 09 Mustang Premium is now around the cost of an Camaro V6.
Also, making things even more interesting is that dealers are dealing on these Stangs to get them off of their lot to make way for the 2010 Mustang (which is alrdy reported on quite a few lots alrdy).

So if you can find one on the lot you could prob. get one for low 20s which seems like a steal.

Comments guys (Again pls now flaming).

If you like the look than go for it. $2500 is nothing to sneeze at, but it ain't pulling me away from my Camaro purchase. It is all a matter of what you want.

GM would if they needed too but the market does not dictate it now. So do you want a Camaro or a deal? If it about the price you have a million options if it's about the car you have 1!

If you like the mustang go for it. Especially if you want a v8 for that price. It's a steal.

Haha sorry guys I wasnt saying I want a Mustang.
I was just stating that they are both pretty close to the same price point right now.

Also, I agree that $2500 is nothing to sneeze at (the 2008s have a $5k rebate).
I am saying that you can get a lot more off than that.
These days people are getting 09 GTs Premiums for $23k (which I think is pretty good for a $30k+ car).

Just thought it would be some interesting info esp. since the Mustang is competition.

Edit: Also I forgot to mention that the 2008 Mustang GT500s also quality for the rebate ($5k I believe it is).
I am not going to lie that that makes them tempting to a lot of people in the market(esp. since you can deal with the dealer on these cars to get them even lower).

I could be tempted to go for the Shelby if they could get it to 36-37 grand.

I have seen them on ebay for $38k (2007 - 2008 brand new).
So not too far off.
I bet you might be able to get it that low.

The biggest difference in my mind between camaro and mustang is the reas suspensions. One with independent sus and the other with live axle. Well, there are many other things, but I would not buy a mustang over a camaro for that reason only.

lol

it really isn't THAT big of a deal. Would you buy a 99 Cobra over a 99 Fbody?

On the latter, not even close. If all you compare is peak horsepower numbers then, on paper, it looks close. In the real world, the difference in torque is huge, and there is a bigger gap between the Mustang GT and the Camaro V6 in terms of pure acceleration than exists between a Camaro SS and a Mustang GT given the numbers we now have in hand.

V6 Camaro versus V8 Mustang isn't close in terms of power or performance, and frankly nobody looking at this from even a remotely objective point of view would have ever thought otherwise.
