EZ Dash ABL Install Method

With the introduction of thin flexible silicone led light strips it makes it ezer to install dash ABL lighting than using non-flexible acrylic light pipes. Using the below kit only 2 of the 4 power wires are used, no modification to the dash appliqués is needed and only two drill holes are required, and possibly no speedo cluster removal. As soon as weather permits I’ll be doing a driveway install. I already plotted the wire runs, test fit the led strips along the dash appliqué and selected the ice blue color which matches the door abl perfectly.

I first thought there would be no drilling needed but when test fitting the led strips around the appliqué corner ends to connect to the light wires it creates a bulge that prevents the strip from sitting flush in the appliqué corners, hence the need to drill a hole in the dash behind the corner end of each appliqué to hide the bulge. I might have position the two the 2 light wires behind the speedo cluster and drill holes there if the holes behind the appliqué corner ends can’t be drilled in a position that will eliminate the bulge enough to allow the appliqués to sit flush. I’ll update this thread when the install is done.

Yeah these kits can be found on Ebay and AliExpress for cheap too with lots of color options and piping diameters. I have not done mine but if I do decide to do them I will definitely go this direction.
