Oil pump pics disassembled
So I have mine all torn down and am in the middle of changing the timing chain to a C5R. Figured I would snap a few pics for those who need some help on an oil pump change out. I found that I could access the bolt in the pickup tube by dropping the oil pan down roughly 3/4". Stuff rags in the pan in case the bolt slips out of your fingers. Also, installing the oil pump is much simpler if you take it apart. Have some pics of whats inside. not much to it
above is the pic from the front showing the pick up and o-ring below is the oil pump with cover off and with the 2 gears out |

Yes its a good way to be sure not to pinch the oil pump oring.
Or you remove the whole pan if you did the 'cutoff crossmember' mod https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=563186 Some shim the oil pump, well melling do advice to do it. The hardest part is to find the little plastic shims to do it...
