I think for us current and former Z-28 owners, the much anticipated arrival of the Z is something that will inevitably happen. I just hope that a car that's going to be as powerful as they claim it will be doesn't end up being a rattlebox after a couple of years. I'm sure most of the SS owners would agree the ride and handling has improved over the older models(thanx to new innovations), but it will take some time to see how the new model ages and the impact it will add to the 'Camaro' name. It's my hope that GM gets it right and the Camaro develops into the legend of its brethren - the Corvette. Besides, can't be havin' dem 'stangs sho' us up.

Actually the LS9 is cast as well, not forged, i dont see any forged LS engines on gmperformanceparts.com other than maybe the LSX and Warhawks, but those wont show up in any production car anyways...really im not a fan of the LSA, i think either go for the step up of the LS3 (being the LS7) or else supercharged the LS3, but dont half-ass it, the LSA and the LS9 are both supercharged LS3s but the LSA has a smaller supercharger to make for a quieter, more refined performance car, and who buys a Z/28 for that?? haha, i say if you're gonna make it supercharged, make it the LS9, if you're not supercharging then put in the LS7 and add a few goodies to boost it around 550hp at least...which i know they can do, just look at the LS3, just a year (maybe?) after that engine was released they released another version with swapped heads and cam that put that engine up to 480 horses and now they sell it as a crate engine on gmperformanceparts.com and jegs and all points in between...so i say give us an LS7 with swapped camshaft and heads, hell they might give us 580! =D

I still have room for 1 more in the garages. 12-18 months should be about right for the economy to get back on track. The wife wants an orange one.

I'll stick with my SS thanks. I already have more power, soon to have a race ready, modified and totally adjustable suspension. I have already started removing weight - over 120 lbs so far, and have a reliable supercharger package (thanks Lingenfelter).

By the time the Z/28 comes out, unless GM severely modifies the suspension (I don't think they will, they are likely to improve it somewhat, however), as I will have 2+ years modifying, adjusting, and replacing items to improve power, strengthen, lighten, and make the present SS be top notch, it is already becoming everything I would have wanted in the car if it were a Z/28.

I am no longer waiting for the Z/28 to emerge. I am building a better camaro. My SS will have better parts, and more importantly, IT IS HERE NOW.

I was planning on upgrading to a Z/28 someday.. not anymore. I'll stick with my SS, thanks.

If you are buying a Z/28 and modify it, it will lose value. I would only buy a totally stock Z/28 if it were used.

Unhappy

Even though I absolutely adore my car, I feel a bit cheated. I would have held out if I knew a Z28 was on the way. This may sound bad, but I hope there is a MAJOR price diff between the 2SS and the Z28... i.e. >20K. Please don't hate me :(

Think about it. Many of us would trade-up in a nanosecond for a new Z28. So, GM hooks us with a sale of a 2010 Camaro now and then gets us to trade in for a 201x Camaro Z28. Brilliant.
