Oil weight for dry sump.

Recently installed a ARE dry sump system in my Camaro. Uses stock oil pump for pressure. Currently running 5w-30 at the moment. Any input on what would probably be a a better weight to run? Opinions welcomed.

5/30 is fine. I have 5/30 in my C6Z, and it works just fine.

Did you alter the factory bearing clearances? If motor is stock otherwise, no reason to change oil viscosity just because you changed from a wet sump to a dry sump setup.

Slick mod, though! I'm gonna have to check that out...

Only thing I hate with the dry dump, is that you have to unscrew 2 bolts to drain the oil (for my c6z at least). Idk how yours is set up.

What dry-sump kit are you running?

I was told that if you want to increase pressure you can safely run 0-40 in our engines.

ARE Drysump. Using their fabricated tank and oil pan. All the AN lines are custom made. The thing I like the most is the capacity. Currently fills up with 14 qts.

Tank is mounted in the trunk. Pump itself takes the AC compressors spot.

14qts!! That's a hell of a lot!
Filling mine with about 9qts (8 + ~1 for the oil cooler) is already about $150 in AMSOIL every 3k miles. But 14 would be insane!

Was looking at doing dry sump in the future to keep the engine happy on the road course/Auto-X.
