Gas today in Dallas

I have been filling our three cars up at Costco until today. Today Costco regular is $3.94, up from $3.02 in 3 wks. Our closet Costco is 10 miles away and local stations are $3.99 today.

So I filled the MKC & MKZ up for $3.99 today. The Camaro is half full and doesn't get driven much in the winter. Never drive in the rain! She hasn't been driven in the past 3 wks, so no fuel needed at this time.

Never sell, drive-em!

possibly they are hoping prices will start back down by then and they wont lose the tax money.most of them are so rich an extra hundred bucks a month for gas means nothing.

With higher fuel prices I’ve been trying to see how much mileage I can get out of my car - LS3, 6M, CAI and a lite tune. I’ve got it up to 22.2. Not too shabby I don’t think.

I know, a Prius gets 40. A Prius don’t have 450HP!

I'm averaging 18 mpg according to the computer, but I have quite a few stops and starts in a 10mile drive. I've not physically calculated it yet. Never can seem to get a full tank lol.

My in-laws have a Prius and average around 48. I wouldn't mind one for a work car, but not in that disgusting wagon lmao.

Fuel prices seem to have stabilized locally at 4.09 regular/4.79 premium.

Diesel unfortunately is 5.09/gal now....

I suspect the higher diesel goes, the higher regular unleaded goes. Some drivers don't even get enough fuel advance on their loads to deliver ...

Yep, that's pretty good!! Around town driving in manual with the converter locked I get between 14-16 depending on how I drive, and on the highway cruising at 73mph, 1800-2000rpm around 21.8-22.3.. Not that it matters, didn't buy it for the milage. But it is kinda nice.. lol.

Perspective

When I first arrived in Zurich in 1993, gas averaged $7.00 gallon (lots of exchange rate/ liter gallon math) and a cup of coffee and a small pastry was $31.00. Yet the roads were full of gas guzzlers and coffee shops. Someone told me "It's all relative. You'll see these prices everywhere soon". Those who want power know they have to pay for it. The US got a reprieve for decades but no more. I just got gas this AM. 6.75-7.50 Swiss Francs/ gallon (more math) = close to $7 - close to $8/gallon. WHAT? Zurich has had no inflation for 30 years? That's not really it. Its that the world price is equalizing. Why no more reprieve for the US?
Don't ask, just look around.

I’d forgotten when I started this thread…Putin’s fault, my eye! (11/21/21) Which even then was a full buck over a year prior.

My commute is 4.5 miles one way.

There is no limit just yet. I'll keep paying and keep driving, lol.

If you account for inflation, gas prices still have a while to go before they break the 2008 record.

Adjusted for inflation the real cost of a gallon of gas from July 2008 shoots up to $5.37 in today's dollars—well above the current cost of $4.318 per gallon. But sure...blame the President because he completely controls gas prices...and corporate greed.
